Wow...to be the teacher. All the power. Haha! Don't worry, I'm a really nice teacher. Mostly because I'm so nervous of messing up that I am so overprepared. Well, that was not how my first day went, at all.
I was told what my class would be the night before; a TOEFL prep class. This is a class to prepare students to take the TOEFL exam which most English speaking universities use to admit foreign students or non-native speakers. Yikes! "Their future is in your hands!" Thanks for the added pressure Gus.
So for past 3 days I haven't been feeling well. Stomach cramps leading me to run to the bathroom every 30 minutes. Last night was the worst. I only speak 1 measly hour during the night plagued with severe stomach cramps. I woke up at 9 and made my way to school. I felt in a fog and my completely out of it. I was given the rest of my schedule, 6 classes in all and 1 conversation 1-on-1. I instantly felt overwhelmed and ready to run for the airport. It seemed like everyone was on their game and little ol' me still didn't have a place to live and was fighting delirium. Come to the rescue Lynne!! She just took my notebook and wrote out my lesson for the class. What a savior!! I went to her apt for a quick nap and headed to class. It went pretty well and I kinda went on autopilot. By 8:30 I was ready to get out of there. Now I know how my teachers felt.
But there you go! I did it, it's done and I have 3 more classes tomorrow.
